WATERWORKS KITCHEN & BATH

When I was recently in NYC I spent some time at the Waterworks showroom. Their products are beautiful and have a classic, timeless look. They do an un-lacquered brass finish that starts off as quite a regular looking brass but quickly ages into a gorgeous patina. Here is an un-lacquered brass faucet "new" and "after" one had been in the showroom for awhile. The Waterworks line is expensive, but they have an online shop that offers some great looking pieces at more affordable prices.

DEB NELSON DESIGN ON DESIGN SPONGE

In case you missed the third floor makeover of my Chester, Nova Scotia home, it was featured on DesignSponge this week! So excited to see it! The whole house was renovated and it was a huge project, but this continues to be my favourite place in the house. I can sit here and look at the view all day long, and I still have to pinch myself. KITCHEN ISLAND ON WHEELS

It can be really practical in some kitchens to have an island that is on wheels, it has so much flexibility in the room. It can be moved around to suit your needs and be a really attractive, functional piece of furniture. In some cases you can re-purpose an old piece of furniture and add wheels, or have something made. You'll want to get the height perfect, to achieve a 36" counter height depends – you need to take into account the height of the wheels. I love the ones with white marble tops! Here are some examples of kitchen islands with wheels that are done really well.

LARGE WINDOWS IN THE KITCHEN

I always like a bright kitchen with big windows. In these kitchens the window is right above the counter. It's a great look if you have the space for it. You sacrifice upper cabinets, but I think the window and natural light is well worth it! Washing the dishes in these sinks would't be so bad!

NEW FARROW & BALL WALLPAPER

Farrow & Ball has some fabulous new wallpaper! I'm SO excited to be trying several of these new styles with a client. I might be most excited about this, a gorgeous dark blue going in a powder room (the image below), but really can't wait to see all of them. Wallpaper can quickly transform a room and these are going to be amazing.
