Farrow & Ball has some fabulous new wallpaper! I'm SO excited to be trying several of these new styles with a client. I might be most excited about this, a gorgeous dark blue going in a powder room (the image below), but really can't wait to see all of them. Wallpaper can quickly transform a room and these are going to be amazing.

I love fabrics and in my job I get to see some beautiful options. I love putting together patterns and there are endless colours, styles and patterns – so it's a fun part of my day when I get to start putting together ideas for a client. I'm enjoying the Global trend in fabrics, these tend to have an artisan feel – like a hand-woven look – in distinct colours and patterns. Here are a few from Kravet that show this look (which we sell). I'd envision fabrics like these made in toss pillows on a neutral linen sofa. They also happen to have a touch of the 2015 Pantone colour – Marsala.
In some bedrooms you don't have a lot of choice when it comes to the placement of a bed, so you might have to put a bed in front of a window. In my own house I have a room with a bed in front of the window and I'm limited in the lay out options. I have been looking for a low headboard since I think this will help create a focal point in front of the window. Another option is to add drapery panels on either side of the window – this is another common way to deal with a bed in front of the window. Here are some rooms with headboards and drapery when the bed is in front of the window. As you can see this really helps to frame the bed and create a nice focal point in the room.
When I was renovating my 1844 house, the main floor under went a huge transformation. I really wanted to open up the main floor, there were many small rooms and doors throughout the space. There are great views at the back of the house, so I wanted more windows and doors to access the back area. I was also trying to contain all the plumbing in the original foundation of the house, which meant the kitchen sink had to go within a certain perimeter. The results took a long time to evolve to where it is now. Here are some before shots from the very beginning, looking back to the window at the back is around where the double doors are now. The original kitchen was small and narrow and was the yellow room at the back.
When the walls started to come down and the renovation was underway!
Now the posts are in, as you can see here.
Then the double doors are put in at the back of the house.
Now the doors are painted black.

And here is how it looks today! So happy with how it looks now, and hard to believe where I started!
In my house I have a large landing between the second and third floors. I, of course, painted everything white. It's not how it looked before! Here it is in its original state with wallpaper and brown floors. The old plaster walls and ceilings were all in very rough shape (not to mention the layers of wallpaper in some areas), so new drywall throughout was in order. Also since all new electrical was being done in the house they had to put a lot of holes in the walls for wires and cables. These before shots are of the landing and looking into the bedroom.
Now here it is once we had new drywall painted and a coat of white paint on the floors.
And finally...with furniture, rugs and art on the walls!
